Certainly and especially during this quarantine period, game developers here and there have been taking the opportunity to work on apps and games for us to download on the App Store. I like to try a lot of them out however, I can be a pretty difficult consumer because I grow easily bored of them.

Surprisingly though, there's a couple of games I've personally sworn loyalty to because they're just that good and enjoyable! I'm telling you I still play these almost daily (plus they have game bonuses for daily logins, that's a tip for you all out there!).

Why not indulge in some of these fun and casual games? All you need is a phone, internet connection and time (whether it's just a few minutes or a whole day). I've curated a list of games for both your left and right brains to enjoy; games that can get your brain circuits turning while you're completing tasks as well as games for those of us who thrive on customization and designing.

  1. Adorable Home (by HyperBeard

    • A wholesome, LGBTQ+ friendly and fuss-free game that starts out with you choosing your character and partner and moving into an humble home in the suburbs with your furry purring friend named Snow. Play with your cats and decorate your adorable home to your heart's content!

    • This game is actually incredibly popular amongst my peers in university and we even borrow each other's phones to play with each other's cats. It's a great conversation starter too so better invite your friends to start playing too.

    • For new players, here are a few important and effective tips:

      • Before buying furniture or anything else, prioritize getting all of the cats first so you can easily obtain a lot of hearts on the daily.

      • It also won't hurt to sacrifice a couple of minutes to watch some ads for the sake of a more convenient gameplay experience!

  2. Rilakkuma Farm (by Imagineer Co.,Ltd.)

    • An incredibly relaxing and "uwu"-inducing farm game featuring everyone's beloved lazy brown bear "Rilakkuma." Grow and harvest crops together, make some green tea to go along with your dango, place a swing or two in your backyard, and enjoy creating your own farm of wonders with Rilakkuma and their friends!

    • Admittedly, there's not a lot much going on in this game but I would say it's still worth keeping for the reasons that it doesn't take up too much of your time in a day to play. It's still super cute, and you don't have to worry about your crops and food rotting to waste. Check in on your farm whenever you want!

  3. The Farm: Sassy Princess (by DAERISOFT)

    • A quirky and nostalgic farm game that tells the story of a cute cunning princess that leaves her life of royalty behind to live by the countryside; she's accompanied by a wholesome community who she can seek help from to help with her farming and independent life!

    • This game definitely got a couple of laughs from me. Playing this can get strangely addicting to the point that it's time-consuming sometimes. I usually play for a lot of time in a day then take a break. Farming is hard work here too! Here, your crops CAN rot if you don't harvest them while playing. If you want to pause from the game though, don't worry and just close the app.

    • For new players reading this: the game has been updated to have more perks for you such as decrease in rent payment (Yep.) and an extra 10,000 Pam (the game's currency) when you've finished the tutorial!

  4. Good Pizza, Great Pizza (by TapBlaze)

    • Can you handle the pressures of competing against your rival, Alicante, on who has the better pizza shop? Fear not as this fun pizza-making game is just for you! Face the funny stories of your customers, customize your shop, impress everyone with your perfect pies to rise as the master pizza-making professional!

    • I love the art style in this game and I find my encounters with the strange customers to be really funny. It's just some fun and mindless gameplay for me.

    • For new and old players, here are some of my tips:

      • Don't be a big spender unless you wanna go broke 👀 Sometimes, you'll have to pay for broken equipment and machines all of a sudden!

      • Give pizza even to those customers who can't pay (AKA the cute and humble homeless man) ♡ You don't need to fill up the pie with ingredients. I just add some cheese, let it bake through the sliding machine and TADAH! You'll gain achievements, no worries. Get that good karma!

  5. Penguin Isle (by Habby)

    • This is ASMR in a game.. but with cute penguins! Create a calming habitat with a serene polar scenery for each of your adorable waddlers. Sit back, relax and let your arctic animals grow as you listen to the waves and the comforting melody playing in the background.

    • I don't have much to say about this game except for the fact that it's adorable and relaxing. Collect them penguins and have a jolly time!

  6. Choices: Stories You Play (by Pixelberry)

    • You have the CHOICE to control your own story! This game has a plethora of journeys to embark on, from office romances, medical emergency drama, reality show shenanigans, epic fantasy adventures, and more. Did I mention that this is also LGBTQ+ friendly? Customize your main character and choose wisely so you can make the most out of YOUR story.

    • Listen.. I have a lot of choice-driven story games. I literally have like 10 of these apps but why did I decide to only include "Choices"? The stories and dialogue are really well-written (in my humble opinion). I think the stories cater to those who are in their late teens, early twenties and mid-twenties since a lot of the main characters for their stories are of such age ranges.

    • However, as much as I love this game, I do have some criticism. I think there should be more stories and opportunities for LGBTQ+ players. This is not always the case with "Choices" but it is more common for players to play as the main female character with love interests ranging from like 3 men and just 1 woman to choose from. The game developers could definitely work and improve upon these concerns some more but otherwise, I still highly recommend compared to others I have played!

  7. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery (by Jam City, Inc.)

    • Here you will finally receive your Hogwarts Acceptance Letter! What are you waiting for? This is YOUR magical chance to uncover the mysteries and secrets behind what's been going on lately at the castle. Put on your Sorting Hat, have fun with your friends and challenge your rivals to a duel, win a quidditch match, take on magical creatures under your wing and master powerful spells with legendary professors all in this adventurous and one-of-a-kind RPG.

    • This is a really interesting game because it takes place BEFORE Harry Potter is admitted to Hogwarts. We have adventures that are just as fun and exhilarating as Harry Potter's (maybe even more at times). If you're even just a casual fan or obsessed with the Harry Potter universe like I am, this is a game worth trying out and playing!

    • For new and old players, this is my useful tip:

      • Follow the social media accounts associated with this game because they sometimes post about exclusive challenges we can take part in to get some bonus items and such. (Check the comments for some hints too 👀 Trust me!)

You don't have to worry about using all of your free time right now to do more productive things if they're just going to add more stress. Try out these games for yourself, take a break and have fun, fellow gamers!
